I've had a love affair with good homemade bread, sour dough, Italian or French bread for years. I can withstand the onslaught of all kinds of goodies, but none of that type of bread in my home.
About a week ago our friend Ronnie, who lives in El Toro, drives all the way down to San Diego, an hours drive each way. He does this every other month to buy Italian bread from a special bakery down there. He sez nothing is like or as good as this bread, so he invests in about 8 loaves. Long story short. He delivers a loaf to our home. I ate 2 slices everyday for one week.
Results; 2 lbs. gain Nothing else was changed in my diet.
Now I can see why WW program does not work for me. I have a definite addiction to flour, yeast and sugar. Once I start up with a certain food like that, I cannot stop until it is all gone. Not in one day but 2 slices per day for a week. I found this very enlightening.
This is for the record. I learned a great deal about my body and what red light foods do to me. It's ok for other folks to eat bread, flour, sugar etc. But if you have not been successful with your food program, you might ask yourself some serious question about your own body and how it is re-acting to your food program.

I'm with you for this kind of food., Miss B. No power to stop. I will be buttering the next slice with my hands while the brain is yelling "stop!" But I don't. So I just can't have the stuff in the house.

Did that with the San Francisco sourdough bread, Ms B! I gained quite a bit over the few days, as I mentioned--but sometimes it's just so worth it to me! It came off before we went up to Tahoe, with being back on program. Tahoe and the buffets, of course, did some damage, but nothing that can't be undone. I gain an inordinate amount when flour and sugar enter my eating, but it's not news to me. Mostly I avoid it, but sometimes I just dive in---then have to return to reality.

I do love sourdough bread too. Sorry you had a gain from it but you now have proof of the affect it has on you. Do you think it contributed to your aches and pains too?
With just a few days of proper eating you and Janine will drop those unwanted pounds.

You know bread is my downfall too! I have potato bread here & it makes the best toast!

My hand goes up here too. I find it really hard to stay out of bread (and sugary things). With bread it's harder if it's a fresh white flour type bread. I can keep the grainy breads or sprouted grain in the freezer and not be tempted much, but they don't make me gain like the white flour breads and sugar do anyway.
I honestly do something sort of like Janine does- every so often we buy a loaf baked at our local market (they make heavenly bread), est it with certain dinners etc....then climb back on the wagon. The other times are when we go away on a trip, and I want to fully enjoy my dinner or something.
For me, and I speak for only myself- I can't really go through my life without ever having certain treats. It just wouldn't make my life fun or enjoyable. So I have it...then as I said- no more- until some point later on.
Barbo- Sorry about the 2 lb gain. Hopefully you'll have it back off quickly and be able to carry on your journey. You've done extraordinarily well- better than I think I could EVER do- and I know you'll continue.
