Barbeque Sauce Core Using the right type of ketchup and sugar substitutes makes this sauce CORE 1 slice bacon or Canadian bacon chopped 1 tbs. extra-virgin olive oil 1/2 onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, chopped 2 cups ketchup (Carb Lite Ketchup) 1 c. tomato sauce 1/4 cup brown sugar (Splenda) 1/4 cup molasses (Brown sugar sub.) or *sf maple syrup 2 tablespoons red or white wine vinegar 2-tablespoon brown mustard or Dijon Hot sauce to taste (optional) 1-2 teaspoon liquid smoke, or to taste 1 teaspoon paprika or smoked paprika if available Freshly ground black pepper Saute onion and garlic in a little oil (1 tbs.)
