"Apple Pie" Oatmeal

Apple Pie Oatmeal
Put a serving of CINNAMON-ORANGE SPICED APPLES{recipe below} in the bottom of cereal bowl.
Add a packet of instant plain oatmeal & 2/3 cup skim milk, stir to combine.
Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until it is the way you like oatmeal.
Top off with 1/3 cup skim milk & additional Splenda & cinnamon.
Very filling & delicious!

CINNAMON-ORANGE SPICED APPLES....
Recipe By :SPINOFF FROM BARBO'S SPICED APPLE RECIPE
Serving Size : 8
10 cups sliced apples -- Gala, quartered
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 cup E.D.Smith Sugar Free Pancake Syrup
1/4 cup Splenda
pinch salt
1 1/2 teaspoons apple pie spice
2/3 cup water
1/8 teaspoon butter flavoring -- optional
1 teaspoon lemon juice
corn starch or guar gum
-Peel, core and slice the apples{I like Gala but the Granny Smith work well too}
-Put apples into a deep skillet or Dutch oven.
-Sprinkle on cinnamon, splenda & salt.Add the orange zest.Stir to coat apple slices with the cinnamon mixture.
-Pour on the syrup , water & lemon juice.Cover.
-Bring to a gentle boil over medium high heat.Reduce to simmer & cook for about 12 minutes or until the apples are just fork-tender.
-Mix a small amount of cornstarch or guar gum with water.Move aside some of the apples & pour this mixture into the simmering liquid. Cook & stir until slightly thickened.
-Remove from heat , keep the lid on & let cool.
-When cool, divide into 8 containers cover with lids or plastic wrap.
-Store in the fridge or may be frozen.
-Serve warmed with Ultra Low Fat Cool Whip, or Light Cool Whip, or low fat Frozen Vanilla Yogurt.
-8 servings{no topping}: 1 Point per serving
Delicious served on French Toast or pancakes/waffles.
NOTE: I use guar gum as a thickener as it is a a clearer sauce that using cornstarch. Can be purchased in a health
food store...a little goes a long way!
