I made this the other day with some fresh berries from Sams Club. I cut back on the sugar as it seemed it bit much, I used 1/4 cup and that was just right for us. The cookies I found at Longs drug store in with the gourmet foods. This was so simple and yet so delightful. This recipe will be repeated over and over at our house.
Strawberries with Crunchy Almond Topping
This easy but stylish dessert is best made early in the day to let the strawberries macerate in the sweetened almond liqueur.
6 cups sliced strawberries 1/2 cup sugar 2 tablespoons amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur) 6 amaretti cookies, crushed 6 tablespoons reduced-fat sour cream
Combine first 3 ingredients in a bowl. Cover and chill 4 to 8 hours. Spoon into individual dessert dishes. Sprinkle with crushed cookies; top with sour cream.
Yield: 6 servings (serving size: 1/2 cup strawberries, 1 crushed cookie, and 1 tablespoon sour cream)
