Adapted from a Family recipe by DebMj1 on the WW Message Board
Tami's Notes; This has become my family's favorite apple crisp. The only change I have made is that I add 1 cup of fresh cranberries and sprinkle the apples with additional cinnamon. I use Braeburn apples and they seem to turn out the best! Also after 30 minutes in the oven I cover the pan loosely with foil to keep the crisp from getting too brown.
SIMPLE APPLE CRISP Serves: 12 Points: 3.3
3 pounds apples, cored, peeled and sliced * Ilike Braeburn apples 1 cup fresh cranberries * Tami's addition 3/4 cup packed brown sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon 2 cups quick cooking oats 2 Tablespoons butter 2 Tabelspoons light butter
Preheat oven to 400.
Spray a 9 x 13 baking pan with non stick cooking spray.
Fill baking dish with your sliced apples, don't worry they cook down.
* Sprinkle apples with some additional cinnamon.
Combine remaining ingredients until crumbly using a pastry knife.
Top apples with crumb mixture.
Bake in preheated 400 oven for 45 minutes.
* Tami's Notes at about 30 minutes I cover the pan loosely with foil to keep the crisp from getting too brown.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
* We like to top ours with the slow churned low fat vanilla icecream.
